Assalammualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarokatuh..
Selawat with salam for Rasulullah SAW with His Ahlul Bay’t of Prophet PBUH.
“Allahumasoliala Muhammad, Wa’ali Muhammad”

It’s been a while since I last update my blog.. It’s been a while since I last wrote in English.. My last article in English was “Sunni vs Shia = Wahhabi and Israel Wins“. Most of my articles that has been written in this humble blog was in Malay language. First, because I’m a Malay. A seriously handsome Malay guy.. LOL! Second, it’s because Malay language used to be the most spoken language in the world back in the 14th century.. So I guess I was just doing my part in kicking back the language to where it was suppose to be.. But in this article, I’m gonna write in English so that it can be used as part of my working portfolio in future, Inshaallah!

Okay.. Enough about the languages blabbering. A few weeks back, I was approached by some nice people from Make Condition Design | Thinklab©, a local designers collective along with MRM – Majlis Rekabentuk Malaysia who was actively organizing talks, workshop and forum known as MAKMAL© Series throughout the year. Their intention was to invite all sort of peoples (mostly designers) and speakers to sit down in a group and have a very cool discussions on any topics that related to the collective directions..

And so.. I was invited to speak at their 6th MAKMAL© Series under the topic called ‘The Untold Stories’ focusing NOT on my design and creative background BUT on Malay arts culture and historical facts. On this series, they have invite two more speakers for that day to share their stories, experience and work focusing on expanding local culture into modern contexts. There was Amir Muhammad and Tintoy Chuo. Both of them are very much well-known people in their own respective fields.. And then there was me..

But me talking about Malay culture and it’s historical stories for the English speaking society where they even have a few foreigners (non-Asian)..? Now that’s a tough job! Why did I say that it’s gonna be a tough job..? First, it’s because there is no replacement for Malay terms to be use in English. Second, seriously dude.. Who would be bothered to listen to ancient stuff from the 13th – 14th centuries..? Now that’s a challenge.. And I accept it with a smile on my face.. LOL!

A few week before the MAKMAL talk took place, I was again extremely tested and this time with a motorbike accident. The crash has cause me being hospitalized for one week plus one-month medical leave, some tissues lost on my left arm, tearing muscles, losing quite huge amount of skins on some of my body parts. Dang! Inshaallah, I will post about that accident stories later.

Okay.. Back on the MAKMAL stories. I managed to skip hospital part and went straight to PUBLIKA in Solaris Mont Kiara where the talk should be. I bring along with me not only my laptop and slides but my best buddy as well; Firdaus Azizan, Afifi Md Taib and Fariz Wan Mat Alli to help me with the presentation part. I talk about Malay Arts basically.. It’s crafts, it’s dresses and fashions, it’s alphabets, it’s architectures, it’s martial arts.. Everything that is ‘Malay’, I’ve tried my best to describe and elaborate on how the arts element has somehow influenced and compliments today’s designers ideas and creations. I’ve tried my best to stand straight that night and nobody know that I got 7 stitches and wounds under my sleeves and that I’m having difficulties in bending and straightening my injured left arm.

And to without my awareness, from the feedback that I got later from audiences and the organizers, they love my talk! They love my speech! Pheww.. I’ve do it right I guess.. And so, here are the photos of that night.. Enjoy!

FLUX Boutique Logo

I’ve finally managed to compiled back all of my previous work portfolios from 1996 – 2007 and decided to publish it on a web for others to view or get inspired. It’s not much and it’s not that good compared to any other portfolios site but I wish it could attract any design agency or firm to have a humble view on it soon since I’m planning to shift from my current work. Like I’ve wrote earlier on my previous post, I’m so sick with all of this government political bullshit that happen so much in my current company. So I really need a wind of change…

All of the work that will be publish soon will include advertisement graphic, graphic design, post-production, illustration, desktop publishing, multimedia and a few other silly stuff that I’ve been doing since a few years back. It will include works ranging from local ad and multimedia projects to international accounts which has been published in Japan, USA and Europe.

So, stay around for an update soon! Taken from this humble weblog name, Flux Lounge… Here we go next, Flux Boutique for a complete portfolios of me… Logo for the site will be as above.

And ohh, by the way, new song has been added to ‘Ear Plucks’ player. A song by Beauty’s Confusion called, Moment Like This. Check it out!

Take care!
